About

The Roots Of Naturally Being

Many hear about non-duality and may intellectually appreciate it. Even a little understanding of it intellectually can lead to glimpses of freedom and joy that take us beyond thought. However, in order to consistently feel we are this freedom and joy, a thorough investigation of experience is required to build conviction. For most minds and bodies, this takes time to establish, and it is not a matter of perfectionism but “do your bestism”! Having come from a tradition of being in a Buddhist religious organisation, I also feel that ongoing friendly support is vital for all non-dualistic teachings as we live amidst a culture of separation. My experience is that a combination of ongoing study, lived experience and conscious resting as true nature which cannot be known to be limited in anyway is necessary. I suggest that this process of awakening to true nature is, in fact, the underlying natural process of all minds and not something unusual or alien.

I do not follow a particular school or dogma of non-duality, and influences here also include Buddhism, brief interventional scientific psychotherapy of emotional needs, and, of course, direct experience.

I first encountered the recognition and remembrance of true nature at the age of 19 through the teachings and practices of Nichiren Buddhism, where I served as a leader for many years before leaving, and subsequently through the various modern-day teachings of the Direct Path. A number of spiritual awakening experiences have inspired Naturally Being, including one particularly powerful glimpse of true nature. My lifelong interest in social psychological matters began when I started my degree in Social Science at 19. Over the years, I have worked as a professional teacher, IT consultant, social entrepreneur, and psychotherapist. I have been blessed to study and work with very wise minds in the realms of spiritual teaching, psychology, and social entrepreneurship.

I am a member of the Human Givens Institute of Psychotherapy. I adhere to the Association for Spiritual Integrity principles.

I live in the mountains of Northern Portugal. Much of my work is offered on a voluntary contribution basis.
