Beyond Words
When we say we understand each other's words, we are saying that we share the same experience of meaning way beyond words. When we share an understanding of meaning with another, we call it love. There is always something much more than words. What is it that creates the continuity of meaning? Words are not enough. The words do not carry the meaning. There is something much more profound. There is something behind the words that is much deeper. This experience of understanding shared with other people is called love, and with the world is called beauty. What divides us is often words, but only when we forget to acknowledge the experience of understanding that all human beings share, which is always present behind the words. So even when someone says "I don't understand you", they are really saying is that "at this moment I cannot follow the logic of your words", not that they are not sharing a shared experience of understanding. However, if they are too attached to words and not to the shared experience of understanding, they will use these words as an excuse to break off relations with you. Perhaps, believing that now you are somehow different when all along you were sharing the same experience of understanding that is much much more than the words. Let us not confuse understanding with words and let us see that we all share the experience of understanding meaning that is way beyond words. If we can remember this, our relationships will last longer and be more profound, and there will be more peace between people. We will also be able to manage artificial intelligence as we will know that though computers can speak to each other, they cannot share the experience of understanding. So we will never let them overtake us. All we have to do is realise that meaning or understanding is the shared experience of humanity and much more important than the words we speak. Its language is silence. A silence that speaks volumes.
