Freedom Not To Be Defined By Anything, Not The Freedom To Do Anything.
It is natural that fear would arise when we consider the liberation of our true infinite nature. For it is this very fear that has been the block to liberation. This fear is not the natural protective impulses of the body, which perhaps may be better not to be called fear but something else to avoid confusion. It is the conditioned psychology of the mind which arises due to the combination of its innate design, which is to fragment reality metaphorically, and the lack of the broader context of meaning which is the life-affirming fearless state of consciously being aware of being aware. This conscious awareness of awareness is ultimately the only way out of the trap of the fragmenting recognition systems that we call the mind. This awareness is the source of understanding or knowing, compared with the mind that is simply a source of recognizing patterns. As we open to the possibility that this awareness is not a product of the mind and as we touch this awareness, we touch the freedom that created everything that is our true nature. No wonder it echoes in our mind and body and the desire to be free. The liberation of the mind and body, out of the context of being aware of awareness, as if the mind were the master of existence, is of all the things they might create and do which are relatively primitive echoes of this deeper context of freedom of the heart of awareness. The liberation the heart of awareness feels, on the other hand, is the freedom to love all that is created and appears as it is, for its own sake, and the realization that the mind and body are in service to this. The liberation of the mind is an empty liberation if not based on the liberation of the heart of awareness. A heart that is liberated from the conditioned fear of the mind sees time and space as a gift not a commodity in short supply. The liberation of the mind and body, out of the context of awareness, is about avoiding or suppressing or expressing in a dysregulated manner the fear it feels by manipulating the environment it believes it controls somehow. The liberation of the heart of awareness is to express the fearless spirit of true liberation through the activities of the mind and body. No wonder the mind and body often may spike a little reactive conditioned fear when they touch the freedom of the heart. For their defensiveness is their way of life and they know of no other way and they are reluctant to give it up. This is why the mind likes practices for they are relatively safe and tend to focus on its needs, but the ultimate freedom of the heart of awareness is beyond that. Seen from the perspective of the heart of awareness, such fear is not fear but simply a conditioned neuro response based on a false premise of separateness, that now holds no power. What would life look like if the true freedom of the fearless heart of awareness came first beyond anything else?
Love,
